Obit: The Free Lance-Star , Frederickburg, VA. Friday, Jan. 13, 1995;
William Hampton FONES, 75, of Montross died Thursday, Jan. 12, at his
home. Born in Westmoreland County, Mr. FONES had retired as a farmer.
He worked for the Wilkerson Farms. He was a member of Nomini Baptist
Church in Montross and was a World War II Army Veteran. Survivors
include his wife, Hilda McKENNEY FONES; five sons, Howard FONES of
Lottsburg, Ron FONES and Clarence FONES, both of Warsaaw, Hampton
FONES Jr. of Mount Holly and Roger FONES of Fredericksbury; Six
daughters, Betty BURNETT and Gladys FOLEY, both of Fredericksbury,
Mary Ann JONES, Francis "Rita" BALDERSON and Dianne kilmon, all of
Montross, and Linda King of Farnham; a sister Sva HENNAGE of Montross;
20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
A funeral will be held at 2PM Saturday at Nomini Baptise Church with
the Rev. Gary HELM officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery
with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jimmy WILKERSON, Phillip
GARY, Buren PITTS, George M. "Dickie" SANFORD, Larry THRIFT, Raleigh
BALDERSON, Ben BRANSON and Alton LANDINGHAM. The Family will receive
friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Welch Funeral Home, Montross.
