[321] BIO:Charles Fones, Jr.'s family lived in the Northern Neck area of VA..
The records on this side of the family are very few, as it seems that
Charles may have died in the year of 1835 as he is no longer on the
personal property records. A few sons may have stayed in the area but
little is known about them. A couple of Charles son's may have been
raised by his brother, Thomas FONES.
Listed on the Richmond CO. VA. personal property tax rolls as being
over 16 yrs of age in 1796, tax paid by his father Charles FONES.
Westmoreland CO. VA. marriage records, Charles FONES, Jr. & Elinor
MUSE on 02/10/1807, no ages or parents names listed.

Mr. Julian Booker FONES, 71 of Warsaw died Monday, March 18, 2002.
The son of the late George Ernest FONES, SR. and Elizabeth Balderson
FONES, he was a retired logger and a member of Newland Church of
Christ. Predeceased by a sister, Clara F. CARTER, he is survived by
his wife Lena Mae FONES, a stepdaughter, Betsy Ann DUNAWAY, a brother
George E. FONES Jr. of Village, three sisters, Estelle BATEMAN &
Dorothy PUGH, both of Baltimore and Shirley FRANCE of Warsay, a
step-grandson Joey DUNAWAY and nieces and nephews. Services were held
March 21 at Welch-Marks Funeral Home with Minister Walker GAULDING
officiating. Interment was in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve FOLAND, Gary FRANCE, Jamie FRANCE, Ronnie FONES
and Joey DUNAWAY. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

the 1900 Texas census which shows Cora as Wiliams wife. William is
not listed in the 1910 Texas census but is listed on the 1920 census
with a different wife named Maude and three other children, Hazel,

Elizabeth SHELLEY wrote a will dated 02/12/1763,returned 10/06/1783
Isle of Wight CO. VA.. In the name of God Amen. Ye, I, Elizabeth
FONES, Being very low and health cannot obtain, but in right sense and
memory, do make this my last will and testament, Ye, Ye, Ye. I do
give to my son John FONES all my part of the estate of William
SHELLEY, deceased, to him and his heirs. I do give all my personal
estate to him also and acknowledge this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal
this 12th day of February, 1763. Wit. Thomas WHITE & James SHELLEY.
In a court held for Isle of Wight County, October 6th, 1763, the last
will and testament of Elizabeth FONES, deceased, was presented in
Court by John FONES who make oath hereto, and being proved by the oath
of Thomas WHITE and James SHELLEY, the witness thereto, is ordered to
be recorded, and on the allocation of the said John FONES and on his
performing what is usual in such cases, certificate is granted him for
obtaining letter of administation with the said will answered for the
said decedents estate in due form.
