H. FONES an orphan of James B. FONES over the age of 14yrs.
CSA Service records, 47th VA. Inf. Co. C, 5th Sgt.. James inlisted on
May 16, 1861 at King George Courthouse, VA.. He most likley was
wounded during the fighting below Richmond in the latter part of June
1862 (The Seven Days Campaign) and died there July 17, 1862. Robert
Amos FONES was the administrator for his brother and collected $67.29
owed to James for his pay he had never received. Another brother Henry
R. FONES who was also in the same unit was the attorney for the claim.
James lived at Foneswood in Richmond County, VA..

ROBERT F. FONES
The Rev. Robert Frank "Bob" FONES, 41, of the 3900 block of King St.
died Saturday, June 15, 1996, in Portsmonuth. A native of Fairfax
County, VA. he was a member and associate pastor of Western Branch
Baptist Church. He was also pastor of youth and singles at the
church. Survivors include his wife, Shelley L. FONES, two sons,
Garland Frank FONES and Carson Lindsey Frank FONES, both of
Portsmouth; his mother, Nancy Hollis FONES and father, Garland F.
FONES, both of Manassas, VA; two sisters, Jeannie OWENS of Manassas
and Janice YANCEY of Bealeton, Va; and a brother, Larry Frank FONES of
Catlett, VA.. A funeral will be conducted at 10am Wednesday in
Western Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Bob YARBROUGH
and the Rev. George F. MULLINAX. Burial will be in Stonewall Memorial
Gardens, Manassas, at 3pm. The family will receive friends at the
church from 7 to 8:30pm Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the church.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is in charge of
arrangements.
