Born near Tappahanock in Essex County, VA.. June 1748 John NALLE was
granted land in Orange County, Virginia in an order signed by "Right
Honorable Lord Fairfax" "Proprietor of Northern Neck Virginia".
Culpeper County, Virginia was formed from Orange County in 1748 - to
map this land a surveyor was needed - so at the third court - which
was held July 20, 1749 a young man named George Washington of the
College of William & Mary was appointed surveyor of Culpeper County,
Virginia.
