[248] BIO:Elizabeth's father was James CHAMBERS alias BURGESS born 1763, died
1842. He was from Richmond Co., VA., belonged to Nomini Baptist Church
and fought in the Rev. War. Elizabeth married Tarply NASH 1st before
she was married to Joseph FONES. (This info: was found on the Roots
Web internet site and posted by "theresa@chesapeake.net")..
"Virginia Genealogist", Vol. 24, Page 43.
"James CHAMBERS alais BURGESS was born in Westmoreland CO., VA. and
lived there until after he applied for a pension #.377838 for his
Revolutionary War service in 1818, 1820. The pension record shows
that his administration was paid arrears of pension to 13, Feb. 1842
but does not name heirs. The following court order, dated 4 April
1842 appears in Richmond CO. order book 28A page 353. It is ordered
to be certified. That it is proven to the satisfaction of this court
by the oath of James CHAMBERS alais James BUGGESS a resident of this
county was a soldier of the Revolutionary Wat and a pensiones of the
United States that he departed this life ont he 13th day of Feb. 1842
that he died intestate and left no widow, but tht he left the
following children and grandchildren who are justly entitled to
receive the arrears of his pension to wit William BURGESS, a son and
Mary YEATMAN the wife of John H. YEATMAN, a daughter of the said James
BURGESS, ELIZABETH FONES the wife of Joseph FONES, a grand-daughter
and three other grandchildren, brothers and a sister to said ELIZABETH
FONES who are non residents of the Commonwealth of VA. namely Peter
NASH, Catherine BRADLEY wife of ______ BRADLEY and William NASH".
1880 Gonzales CO., TX. census list Elizabeth FONES age 57 born in VA.
living with her son's family (Charles E. FONES).
